“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”
- William Arthur Ward
Good to see you again, CMC crew! It sure is a beautiful Thursday, but what makes it even more beautiful is knowing that the weekend is close. 🤣 Hang in there fellas!
Today in history (2013), Xi Jinping was elected the President of the People's Republic of China, in a confirmation vote by the 12th National People's Congress in Beijing. He received 2,952 for, one vote against, and three abstentions. Talk about landslide victories! 🤯
In today's newsletter, we will be covering long-time privacy coin Grin (GRIN) coder "Ignotus Peverell” voted by developers to receive financial support to work on the cryptocurrency, Coinbase Custody integrating with Coinbase Pro's OTC desk and Bcause LLC to use Nasdaq’s matching engine, clearing and market surveillance tools to operate a spot crypto market. Today, we also have a special announcement about decentralized exchange ResDEX by Resistance! So don't forget to check that out below too!
Please don't forget to answer the polls down below too! It's a great way for us to interact with you all and hear what you have to say. 💭 Happy reading! 📚
A boring day 😴
It was a rather uneventful past 24 hours. Total market capitalization did not most from ~$134.5 billion, with most coins either seeing gains or losses in the ~1-2% range. 24 hour volume for the day is currently at ~$29.3 billion.
BTC is currently trading at ~$3,910, also experiencing no change over yesterday. RSI level on the daily chart again did not move at ~54.7, indicative of further market indecisiveness. BTC is also still trading above its 21-day EMA line on the daily chart. 👀
Paid to build 💰
In a recent weekly meeting, long-time privacy coin Grin (GRIN) coder "Ignotus Peverell” was voted by developers to receive financial support to work on the cryptocurrency, a move that will make him the nascent project’s 3rd paid team member. He will be given roughly $10,000 per month to work on Grin. 💰 Ignotus Peverell is one of the original creators of the Grin project who started the project back in 2016.
Grin is a relatively new blockchain that went live in mid-January. It utilizes the “MimbleWimble” protocol, named after a tongue-tying curse in Harry Potter books, to obfuscate transaction details such as amount and account addresses. 🙈
The meeting also confirmed a $17,000 “contract and payment” of security auditing firm Coinspect, as developers previously decided to conduct a third-party review of Grin’s “cryptographic and consensus-critical code”. Grin community members are expecting a draft report by 20 April.
Game changer 😀
According to an official blog post, shortly after directly integrating Coinbase Custody with Coinbase Pro's OTC desk, Coinbase Custody completed its first over-the-counter (OTC) trade directly out of cold, or offline, storage. 🤯
According to the post, this was a “major unlock” for Coinbase's clients as it marked the availability of “immediate” liquidity. Prior to this, a trader would have to withdraw the assets from a offline cold storage and transfer it to an online wallet to execute a trade. 🤖
The connection of these 2 departments allows users to leverage the OTC desk and buy and sell without needing to move funds out of cold storage.
Bcause LLC, described as a “full-stack cryptocurrency ecosystem,” recently announced that it will be using Nasdaq’s matching engine, clearing and market surveillance tools through the Nasdaq Financial Framework platform to operate a spot cryptocurrency market, to be launched within the next few months. 👀
Bcause has also filed to become a designated contract market and to launch a derivatives clearing organization with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Bcause seeks to be the only “one-stop shop” to operate a spot trading market, crypto mining facility and a futures/derivatives clearinghouse.
When some or all of a coin’s initial supply is generated during or before the public launch, rather than being generated over time through mining or inflation. They may be used for legitimate purposes, such as crowdfunding or marketing.
